Owen to United...??

Soooo Sir Alex wanted to sign the lad as a teenager.... but as we all know he went to Liverpool where I loved him like a brother until he made his trip to Spain, our relationship ended soon after. Sir Alex finally gets his wish, though he's not a teenager, Michael still has all the potential in the world. But there's only one question to be asked... Can Sir Alex get him out of that funk?

I think the answer's simple.... No... There is no question that if Owen plays he will score goals. To be honest I think he'll fall into a supporting roll where Rooney (who I predict to explode this year) will take a lot of the cake. Also, Berba's there so if he doesn't play well he could fall into a supporting roll, and then there's one of my favorite up and coming players Dannnnnnny Welbeck. Welbeck being the 18yr old stud he his should be looking to get more PT and that will surely take away from Mr. Owen.

There are however, the intangibles that Owen possesses. He has played for some of the best teams in the world (Liverpool, Real Madrid). He has won the FA cup where he scored both goals against Arsenal in a 2-1 victory. His finest moment was when he took the European Player of the Year award in 2001. Owen will have the potential to score goals but the fact of the matter is that he's taken on too many injuries and I don't think he can come out of this terrible funk. But I guess its in Sir Alex's hands now

Personally, I hope he sucks and United fall to 5th this season while Liverpool win the title!!!

YNWA!

Here's a long video....

Is Kaka About to Make it Rain in Manchester?

Please ignore the awful photoshop and listen to this: Man City are offering a shitload of money to secure Kaka's services according to goal.com. The transfer fee is supposed to be in excess of $100 Million, and dude could put pen to paper on a contract worth almost a Million per week. Not per year, per week. That's just re-goddamn-diculuous. That's like goldplated learjets and bathtubs full of cocaine baller status right there. If this deal goes through Kaka will no longer need to play in any games anymore, he can just crush the other team with his wallet and force them to forfeit.

Eduardo Scores AGAIN; Arsenal Advances

Eduardo, one of the 50 Trillion Brazilians currently playing in Europe, scored for what has to be the 495th time in the last 10 games and led Arsenal to a victory in the 3rd round of the FA cup. Although they were challenged slightly, they eventually kept the universe in order and came through with the win. What makes this unbelievably scary for all those who are not Arsenal fans (luckily not me), is that they have people like Gilberto, Denilson (the good, young one), and Eduardo who aren't even starters or first team regulars. With his team of teenagers who are closer in age to Tweens than young professionals, Arsene Wenger has made everyone eat crow for thinking he couldn't turn these tots into title contenders. We'll see how far he can take these kids, as I have a feeling they can suprise some people not only in the EPL but the Champions League as well.

Its The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year....

Ahhh. Its January, which means it's a new year and it's the beginning of the season every futbol fan looks forward to all year. Yes.....it's transfer window time, where managers bolster their teams for title runs and bad teams acquire players to upgrade to mediocrity. For my beloved Arsenal, they are challenging for the prem league title and will probably not make any major moves. They just have to keep from being distracted by goldenballs and his freekicks while he trains with them to prepare for the 2008 MLS season. Over in MLS land, several teams are poised to add cheap talent to their rosters: DC might have found the next Erpen, and several rumors have linked the geriatric Figo with LA LA land. If your like me, your anxiously awaiting what this wonderful time of year is going to bring us; but to me it can't be better than George Constanza's answering machine. Random reference I know, but it is too classic to forget..................Enjoy:

Ref Blows Match For Liverpool; MLS Refs Impressed By Level Of Suckitude

In a refereeing performance which could be compared to those seen in over 30 rec league matches, referee Rob Styles cost Liverpool 3 points by awarding Chelsea a dubious penalty kick and in turn got himself pulled off of a match this upcoming weekend. As I watched this game I got him confused with one of the refs who used to ref my summer league games in high school, meaning he was one of those refs who couldnt cut as a player so he bacame a ref who became too involved in the games he was reffing, therby becoming a shitty ref. The most suprising thing to me is how Styles made it out of Anfield alive........I thought every fan in "the kop" would rush the field and maul his ass to death before he could escape. On another point, I think MLS should look into doing the same thing, punishing shitty reffing performances, but the problem is that if they took a ref off of a game they would probably get a shittier one to replace him because if they had a "better" one he probably would have been working the game anyway.

Young Gunners Take First Leg

Although this is a bit late, I always have to make time to talk about my team, Arsenal. They took the first leg of a Champions League qualifier 2-0 at Sparta Prague on wednesday, with Hleb and Fabregas(two members of my dominant EPL fantasy midfield) hitting for one each. This was a bit of a suprise to me, because I was fully expecting Jens Lehmann to gift the other team about three goals to make it a bit interesting. The baby gunners should be a fun team to watch this year with all the amazing young talent and the beautiful passing game which Wenger has always stressed, which by the way is a welcome respite from the long ball tactics employed by other EPL clubs........and on another note, I was wondering if anybody could hook me up with Bacary Sagna's hairstyle because I think its awesome. Really awesome.

Chelsea Fails To Sign Alves

Its a shame Mourinho could'nt sign Brazilian right back Daniel Alves, as I was really looking forward to seeing Mourinho turn a highly skilled defensive player into a stay at home right back who only serves in crosses to the one offensive player. Didier Drogba. All jokes aside, this year it looks as if there is some creativity in the Chelski attack with the addition of Malouda and others, but last year i swear every Chelsea goal highlight was of Drogba just shitting on the other team all by himself.
