Altidore To Xerez on Loan?

According to this report, Jozy Altidore will be heading out on loan to spanish second division side, Xerez. That cheer you hear is from me and several other US Fans who know that this will only fastrack Jozy's development.

This move should earn him more playing time, and lead to him garnering more consideration from Bob Bradley for the upcoming world cup qualifiers this year and the various other competitions(Confederations Cup, Gold Cup) that make up the packed US Mens Team schedule this year.

Hopefully Monaco will also do the right thing and negotiate a loan for Freddy Adu, so the US can have their young talents playing regular minutes abroad(Although god knows why Adu isn't getting minutes on that team).

What do you think? Is this truly the beginning of Altidore's development into a big time player? Or do you think he should stay at Villarreal and fight for a place in the 18 man roster on game day?

Sexy: Red Bull Arena Animation

I know, I know. I'm mad late and this came out a while ago, but goddamn this stadium looks so sexy that I just had to post it. In 2010, this place will be the definitive cathedral of US Soccer:

I just came across THIS, I couldn't get the vid on here but that link should do it. Next I want to see them riding TIGERS... THAT WOULD BE SICK!

Quakes Get a Kit Sponsor!

San Jose has signed a 3 year deal with Amway Global. With more and more teams getting sponsored the league is starting to look more and more sexual. On a serious note this also shows soccer's growth in the United States. And that folks puts a big ol' smile on my face. I'm diggin the kits.. are you?

OOHHHH VILLA!

So we all know Villa has been creepin up the table. But DAMN... right now if Chelsea and Liverpool slip up tomorrow they'll be tied for second in pts. I just wanted to throw that one out there because its nice to see a team mix it up a little. I just hope they don't drop Ashley Young this summer. Keep pushin for second boys.. you'll always be behind the REDS!

Here's how they stand now.....

NSR: Charles Hamilton - It's

Lyrically impressive. Watch out for Charles Hamilton in '09:

Looks More Likely Becks Will Stay In Milan

It's looking increasingly more likely that Becks will turn his loan spell with AC Milan into a permanent move, as Milan are stating they are willing to pay 4.5 million euros in order to secure his services permenantly.

Is anybody really shocked by this? If anything i'm shocked at the low valuation for his services, I figured it would be a lot more expensive than 4.5 mill euros to secure his services, just because of his impact off the field.

Beckham's stay in MLS will have mixed views. He was most certainly a success off the field with record jersey sales, and sold out stadiums. However, on the field he never really fit the description of a designated player in the first place. Beckham is a player who thrives when he has good players around him, and this is showing with his good run of form at Milan right now.
On the field he was not what the DP slot called for, a game changing player. That is more of the role Landon Donovan has played for the Galaxy over the years.

I have no hard feelings against Becks for probably staying with Milan, and hopefully he will serve as an example to other teams who only think about the off-the-field benefits when it comes to DP's.

What do you think? Was his impact as big as expected?

NSR: 17 Year Old Notorious B.I.G Battle Rap On The Street In Bed-Stuy

Saw the movie Notorious yesterday and was reminded of this video. My favorite lyricist of all time. Who's yours?

Findley Back To RSL

According to Yanks Abroad, Robbie Findley's trial with Brondby is over and he will be returning to RSL without an offer. That's not to say he didn't impress them though, having scored two goals in their friendly match on Sunday.

So the good news for RSL fans is that he's staying..............for now, as Brondby has admitted that his play was good enough that he would be in consideration if they were to need another striker down the road.

As far as i'm concerned, this right here is the problem with MLS right now. Your getting young, decent american talent which is opting to go overseas and play for teams in scandanavia rather than here presumably because of the money. (Although it could be the women are hotter over there but that's debatable.) The even bigger problem is that when these guys leave there's nobody good enough left to replace them so you end up with mediocre players in MLS starting 11's who bring the total quality of the game down a notch.

MLS really is a frustrating league to follow. What do you think?

Tottenham Sign Cudicini and Chimbonda

Tottenham announced today that they have successfully signed both Pascal Chimbonda, and Carlo Cudicini from Sunderland and Chelsea. In Chimbonda's case I guess he really missed White Hart Lane because he just left only 6 months ago and now he's back. For Cudicini, he was most likely brought in to challenge Gomes for some playing time seeing how Gomes has been in awful form for what seems like forever.

Will these moves keep Spurs outside of the relegation zone this year? I dont know, but if their performance against Man Utd in the FA Cup this past weekend is any indication, they need to shake things up.

Do you think they'll be one of the three to make the drop this year? As a gooner I would love to see it happen but I don't wanna jinx it.

USA's Wynne Man of the Match in My Eyes

I'm sure lots of people are stoked that Sacha netted his first, second, and third goals for the national team. Sacha played a great game from starting whistle to the final. But he was not the star of the first half in my eyes. Yeah he scored an absurdly amazing free kick, and later buried a PK. But who earned that PK, who was EVERYWHERE defensively in the first half, who was streaking down the right wing with unhumanlike speed. That would be Marvell Wynne. His first half performance vs Sweden last night was inspiring. The man does not have the greatest technique, but damn does he play with heart, and that's the one thing on the pitch that separated him from everyone. The second half was a different story though, Sacha continued this amazing play and overall he was the best player on the pitch during the second half. But I'm going to have to split the Man of the Match honors and give it to both of them.

Overall great win for the US, it was nice to see the youngins in action

Reminder: Live Chat/ Blog For Man Utd - Tottenham FA Cup Game Tomorrow

Just a reminder that we will be hosting a live chat room/ live blog for the Man Utd - Tottenham FA Cup game tomorrow starting at 12PM.

Dr Sulaiman al-Fahim = Problem for the EPL

For those of you who don't know who this guy is, he's the new owner of the super spending club Manchester City. The same dude is trying to buy Chelsea, now normally I don't really care when teams get bought out because usually that means there will be more money, and more money usually means better players. But where the problem lies is, where will he spend more of his money. If he lands Chelsea there's going to be a sever conflict of interest. Who gets more money for transfers? What happens if both managers want to bring in the same player? There are so many things that could come up and if he favors one team the other is getting the proverbial shaft. I think its stupid and should somehow be restricted.

Thoughts?

TOTTENHAM - MANU FA CUP GAME LIVE CHAT/BLOG TOMORROW AT 12!

NSR: No Pants Subway Ride '09

Had a couple friends run into this on the subway last week......I'm mad I missed it:

FYI: WE ARE HOSTING A LIVE CHAT ROOM TOMORROW AROUND 12PM FOR THE MANU - TOTTENHAM FA CUP GAME, SO IF YOUR WATCHING THE GAME WHY NOT JOIN IN SOME OF THE BANTER AS WELL.

Eddie Who?

I honestly forgot all about Eddie "Grown Ass Man" Johnson, and the fact that he was still playing somewhere over in England.

But apparently someone hasn't forgotten about him and his non-goalscoring ways, and they've written an update on how he is struggling to catch up to the level of the game in England.

WTF happened to this guy?? He used to be the shit when it came to US Soccer, the 'next big thing,' and so quickly he has become the soccer equivalent of Ryan Leaf(look it up, he blew it big time).

Hopefully he can make a Mickey Rourke like comeback and turn it around, because god knows the US can use as many good strikers as it can get right now since Bob Bradley doesn't want to play Jozy for some reason.

What do you think went wrong in the development of the "Grown Ass Man?"

FYI: WE ARE HOSTING OUR FIRST EVER LIVE CHAT ROOM DURING THE MAN UNITED - TOTTENHAM FA CUP GAME THIS SAT STARTING AT 12PM.

You've Been Kicked in the NUTS!!

This is one of my all time favorites! You laugh, you cry, you cringe at the sight of someone getting a swift kick to their jewels. If a dude with a jumpsuit and an orange afro wig came running up to me I would beat the @#$! out of him before he had the chance... unless of course I'm the guy coming outside in the morning to get the paper... Enjoy!

I just got word that the Sounders have already sold 18,600 season tickets. If they don't sell another ticket this season they will still attract more fans then 11 of the 14 teams last year. I don't know about you, but that sure as hell puts a smile on my face.

Bad Refereeing: '78 World Cup Sweden Vs Brazil

Oh man is this a good one. Back in the 1978 World Cup Brazil was playing Sweden and Zico scores as in extra time as time is running out but the ref disallows the goal saying that time ran out. WHO DOES THAT! Man this ref should thank every god ever, basically just adopt polytheism, for getting out of that stadium without getting killed let alone seriously injured.

Madrid After Wenger and Fabregas?

New Real Madrid el presidente, Florentino Perez has supposedly promised to deliver Arsene Wenger as the team's manager/GM by this summer. On top of that he also plans to target Cesc Fabregas and Kaka. Ok this is just getting rediculous, if Wenger somehow gets poached away from the gunners I will go apeshit and you will definitely see me on the news for breaking some shit.

People need to stop being jealous of the Gunners beautiful style of football and realize that we haven't won anything significant in sometime. So let us keep our coach who makes us play pretty but permanently keeps us in football trophy purgatory.

P.S. WE WILL BE HOSTING A LIVE CHAT ROOM DURING THE MANU - TOTTENHAM FA CUP GAME THIS SATURDAY STARTING AT 12PM. PLEASE JOIN US AND VOICE YOUR OPINION DURING THE GAME.

Cudicini to White Hart Lane?

Well it seems Tottenham are going to take a step in the right direction.. FINALLY! Word on the street is that they have just offered Chelsea a £1 million bid for their back up keeper Carlo Cudicini. With Heurelo "Hands of Bricks" Gomes not playing up to his level of talk in the beginning of the season. (He claimed that Tottenham would be in the race for the championship) It is clear that a transfer in is needed. Cudicini will be out of contract at the end of the season so this is an easy way to make some money. If this deal goes down, Chelsea fans need to pray for Chec to stay healthy because Hilario isn't the best of keepers. Here's some of Cudicini's best (along with the worst compilation music ever)

Article 17 of FIFA Rules....?

Wow... doesn't he look upset... I don't think I've ever seen a player want to leave his club so bad. I still think the guy's not as good as he thinks but Zennit are stalling the talks and he's getting frustrated, on a personal note I don't think its the club... I think he's just a wimp and hates the cold... So this boyish 27 yr old is going to buy out his contract and get the hell out of there. Article 17 of the FIFA rules says he can do it as early as November.
I don't know what to think about this, I feel bad for the guy cause I can only dream about playing for Arsenal (or a possible Man City swoop) and the only thing holding him back is his club. However, I do believe that he should honor his contract with his current club and see it out of they don't want to get rid of him. I'll have to side with Arshie just because its the opportunity of a lifetime to play at a top flight club, and his club should respect his wishes.. and buy me lots of beer..
Thoughts?

The game is set for a 12:15 kick off but feel free to stop by early and pregame with us. The better the turnout the more we'll do this!! So grab your computer, grab a brew, and tune in. See you then!
'I'll bring da beers.. I'll bring da beers'
only for me though.. sorry

Peace Out: Robinho Missing at Citeh

In a not so surprising development, Robinho has gone rogue and has gone back to Brazil for "family problems."

Now If you have any brains at all, then you would totally understand where Robinho is coming from. He's supposedly mad about the team not being able to his friend and national teammate Kaka, but we know the real reason why he's mad.

It's the bathtub full of cocaine money baller status, that's what he wants. Right now he's only on escort agency VIP baller status right now, but he definitely wants to reach the baller plateau that was set forth by Kaka's propsed monster contract. So we'll see how this plays out, I'm sure it will resolve itself when Robinho realizes that he's really not doing that bad money-wise.

Do you think he can help Man City get out of the relegation zone when he comes back from his short sabbatical?

P.S. We will have a preview today of the upcoming Man U - Tottenham FA Cup game this Saturday, and we will be HOSTING THE 1ST EVER ORANGE CARD LIVE CHAT/BLOG DURING THE GAME. STOP BY THE SITE WHILE YOUR WATCHING THE GAME AND COME CHAT WITH ALL THE MANU AND TOTTENHAM FANS. LIVE CHAT!!!
Ok i'm done.

NSR: TMobile Spontaneous Dance Commercial in Liverpool St Station

Check out this really cool commercial for TMobile. I would have definitely ruined things with my lack of rhythm had I been there, but lucky for you I was a couple thousand miles away at the time. The best moment is when the guy with the Kid n Play high top fade circa 1990 joins in the festivities.

ESPN MLS Primetime Thursday = Cancelled

Steven Goff over at Soccer Insider found this interesting article from Sports Business Journal, stating that ESPN is dumping the "Primetime Thursday" format due to it's extremely lousy ratings. In its place they will have games on Saturday, Wednesday, Friday, and Thursday. I guess this is a good idea, it could cause a conflict of interest though with the FSC game of the week on Saturday. Also this probably means that no more games will be pre-empted by WNBA games with final scores of 20-10, and if thats the case then im 110% for change. What do you think? Will it work? Will they get better ratings?

Tottenham Heelspurs..

I just watched the Tottenham v. Portsmouth game and I just felt the need to comment on it because I had predicted the Spurs to finish in the top 4 this season. They dominated the play throughout the game but they just couldn't finish. They should have won the game today by AT LEAST 2 goals.

Three things piss me off about them (I don't care for the team its just when you predict a team to be in the top 3 you don't want them to have the least amount of points in the league). Firstly, they bypass Modric in the midfield way to often. They seem to prefer to hit the seams in a direct route to the forwards or use Lennon (or Bentley when he's in) on the wings. When Modric was involved, he creates chance after chance (watch the highlights folks). Secondly, their finishing is horrid, though it could be looking up due to the recent signing of Mr. Defoe (who scored the only goal for Spurs today). Defoe and Bent both had chances that I think my mom could have finished. Lastly, Gomez SUCKS, he has hands like cinder blocks. If they want any chance of getting away from the relegation zone they need to go out NOW and pick up a keeper!

Well I'm done ranting, what do you think about this team who had so much potential, but can only produce 8 goals in its 11 home matches in EPL play...??

NSR: Denis Leary Remembers Denis Leary Movies

In one of many non soccer related posts to come, I bring you Denis Leary commentating on his own movies and it is priceless. I wish they would do this with Samuel L. Jackson because he does like 800 fucking movies a year, many of them which are not very good. He would still make it interesting though cause he's the baddest mofo on earth.

P.S. Don't forget to watch the premiere of Flight of the Conchords tomorrow at 10 on HBO.....and if you dont get cable don't worry, i'm sure it will be available on the web illegally sometime soon after 10:

Bad Refereeing: The Greatest Dive in The Universe

For this weeks Bad Refereeing, I'am proud to bring you what I consider the greatest dive in the universe. This is just too good to not watch over and over again. I understand the team being mad at the ref, but why not try to destroy the linesman as well? Instead of correcting the ref he sat there with his flag up his ass doing nothing.

Ultimately I think it's only fair that this ref and the diving player be drawn and quartered or publicly humiliated in some fashion. I think that's the only way those players will be able to move on from that game without taking their anger out on some random person and killing him.

Is Kaka About to Make it Rain in Manchester?

Please ignore the awful photoshop and listen to this: Man City are offering a shitload of money to secure Kaka's services according to goal.com. The transfer fee is supposed to be in excess of $100 Million, and dude could put pen to paper on a contract worth almost a Million per week. Not per year, per week. That's just re-goddamn-diculuous. That's like goldplated learjets and bathtubs full of cocaine baller status right there. If this deal goes through Kaka will no longer need to play in any games anymore, he can just crush the other team with his wallet and force them to forfeit.

Love or Hate?

Love him or hate him, he's the best player in the world. My personal favorite is the first guy that pulls down the 'Hate' background. The look on his face says it all.
